The basis of good academic preparation includes, nurturing programs, good teachers and motivated students. We believe that what students experience through international travel will give them a better appreciation of what they have by exposing them to situations where people have little, and sometimes nothing, to leverage for survival. In additional, travel abroad also helps to increase students' global awareness.
Inner city youth have few, if any, opportunities to travel abroad. To address this, we have planned an international trip to China in June 2011 for fifteen students from the City of Hartford. During the time leading up to the trip, students will participate in a variety of service learning activities in which they will make positive contributions to their community. Upon returning from China, students will discuss their experiences through informative symposiums in their schools and community. We believe that this will be invaluable training for them to become well-informed leaders with increased knowledge of the world in which they live.
We are currently raising funds to support this endeavor. We hope that you will consider contributing to help to make this life-changing opportunity come to fruition for fifteen deserving students. Without a doubt, this trip will provide our youth participants with a broader understanding of the global community.
